Fordbridge Community Primary School

Fordbridge School Concept Scheme Fordbridge School Concept Scheme June 14

Proposals For The New School

A brand new school is being built to replace the old Fordbridge school building on the site of the former Bennetts Well school.  The new school will be an integral part of the local community and there will be facilities available for community use.  The school will offer full day care nursery provision, as well as a school nursery.   The developer, Morgan Sindall, started on site on 16th June 2014.  The new school will take approximately a year to complete.

Existing Fordbridge School Site

Consultation events were held in May 2012, December 2013, March and June 2014.  North Solihull Partnership presented its early ideas for the redevelopment of the existing school site.  Feedback from the consultation events has shown that:

  • you appreciate the need for new housing, especially some larger, affordable homes for growing families
  • You also like the idea of a new play space for children but had concerns about where it would be located and how it would be managed
  • You asked the Partnership to think about areas of free play as well as play equipment

Next Steps

We will now work on a development brief and consult with residents again with a proposed development plan in early 2015. A planning application will then be submitted to Solihull Council.
